What inspired you to start your work?
I have always been a creative person, trying my hands at all kinds of arts and crafts. I turned to furniture painting about a year ago when I wanted to update some pieces for my own home. I realised this was what I have always been looking for, and have not stopped painting since!
Describe your creative space, where you bring to life your work?
I have a spare room at home that has become the place where I can play with paint and brushes to my heart’s content. It is always full of projects on the go, so best hidden behind a closed door!
What do you love most about your handmade business?
Taking a tired old piece of furniture, and turning it into something beautiful again, gives me so much joy. But for me it does not just stop there…. I am constantly on the lookout for things that can be refreshed and turned into decor items. The treasure hunt is just as much fun as the actual work!
What are you most looking forward to about being at the Auckland Fair?
This will be my first Auckland Fair – I can’t wait to show my work to more Aucklanders, and am frantically busy preparing lots of new one-of-a-kind items for the show.
What has been your biggest triumph to date?
I love doing commission work – taking something that has been in a family for years, and giving it new life, so that a next generation can keep loving it!
