What inspired you to start your work?
We found a gorgeous property in Mangawhai that had established olive trees on, and decided to start producing extra virgin olive oil from the trees. The property is ours and the two black dogs special place, so we loved the idea of sharing a piece of it with others.
Describe your creative space, where you bring to life your work?
The grove is where everything happens, we love walking through the trees and capturing it via social media and where we prune and look after the trees so they are at their best to produce our EVOO to the highest quality. We have 10 acres filled with a variety of trees, a dam for the dogs to swim – it’s a beautiful escape from the city.
What do you love most about your handmade business?
We really love being able to create a piece of us and our property to share with others. It’s so satisfying being so hands on and being able to see the progress in the trees and grow and change quickly.
What are you most looking forward to about being at the Auckland Fair?
We had such a great time meeting new and repeat customers at the 2016 Auckland Fair, we cant wait to do it again. Being amongst a great selection of NZ businesses is always inspiring.
What has been your biggest triumph to date?
We are proud to display our red certification sticker, which ensures our customers that our oil is extra virgin and is of the highest quality. Additionally, achieving medals in both the 2015 and 2016 Olives New Zealand awards was a great achievement.
