What inspired you to start your work?
I took a ceramics class on a whim and absolutely fell in love. I remember going home to my hubby after my 1st session and telling him all about this new passion I had apparently uncovered.
Describe your creative space, where you bring to life your work?
I have a studio in my home in Birkenhead. Its a sunny little spot with shelves, a desk, a worktop bench, wheel, order packing station and materials storage. I have a kiln outside in the garage which has got great ventilation so I don’t gas my family and me.
What do you love most about your handmade business?
I love that the raw materials I use have all been sourced locally, my packaging is recycled and the paper I use to wrap up the orders features a doodle I made of my Autumn / Winter 2017 range. I love that I am able to reduce my carbon footprint while trying to keep everything local.
What are you most looking forward to about being at the Auckland Fair?
Making product for the fair! I spend about 2 months prior to the fair getting everything ready. I’m looking forward to having a stand bursting at the seams with product!
What has been your biggest triumph to date?
Getting asked by Frankie Magazine for samples for a shoot – I nearly fell off my chair when I got the email!
