What inspired you to start your work?
As a medical herbalist and a creative wanting to provide opportunities for people to grow, we have had a long time dream to make affordable organic herbal tea blends for normal people like us. Together we made that dream come true. The dream is bigger and still developing… this year we want to start growing the herbs.
Describe your creative space, where you bring to life your work?
We both come up with ideas where-ever we are… a lot of our planning happens over teas and coffees (yes, one of us drinks coffee :)) and while travelling between markets in our van with our gorgeous little Tea Bar caravan on tow. We manufacture all our teas by hand in small batches, labelling and sealing each bag by hand. Once the little peg is attached to the top of each bag, we know that our hand made rustic treasures are perfect and ready for you.
What do you love most about your handmade business?
We love getting feedback from our customers – that’s our favourite part, I think. When people come back for more, or send us a message that the teas are impacting their lives, it makes us happy.
What are you most looking forward to about being at the Auckland Fair?
We are really excited about meeting new customers, about sharing our teas with you, which will all be available to taste at the Auckland Fair… it’s our first Auckland Fair, so we are anxious and excited about it all! And of course we are also looking forward to checking out the other stall holders, their products and the beauty they will bring to the day.
What has been your biggest triumph to date?
There would have to be three things…
Firstly, getting our products into several health food and organic stores, something we definitely want to expand on! Secondly, getting our Tea Bar caravan up and running a year ago, which we now take to festivals and markets, and thirdly, arriving at a point where we can trust enough to let go of other employment and focus fully on this venture!
